Barcelona moved three points clear at the top of LaLiga after a dominant 3-0 victory over Osasuna on Thursday, extending their unbeaten streak in all competitions to 19 matches. The Catalan giants remain the only team in Europe’s top-five leagues yet to lose in 2025.
The hosts started strongly, with Ferran Torres opening the scoring in the 11th minute. The forward latched onto Alejandro Balde’s cross, finishing with a first-touch effort from inside the six-yard box to complete a well-worked team move. Dani Olmo doubled the lead ten minutes later from the penalty spot after being fouled inside the area. Although his initial penalty was saved by Sergio Herrera, the referee ordered a retake due to encroachment, and Olmo made no mistake the second time, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Lewandowski Seals Victory as Barcelona Extend Lead
Despite making several changes to the lineup due to injuries and the return of international players, Barça controlled the match comfortably. Even with Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha starting on the bench, Hansi Flick’s side dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities.
The visitors, Osasuna, struggled to mount any offensive threat and failed to register a single shot on target. Barça almost extended their lead before halftime when Torres’ free kick struck the crossbar in the 38th minute. The home side continued to press, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal causing constant problems for Osasuna’s defense.
Barcelona sealed the victory in the 77th minute when Lewandowski connected with a precise Fermín López cross, heading the ball into the net from close range. The Polish striker’s goal wrapped up another convincing performance, reinforcing Barça’s title ambitions.
Barcelona Strengthen LaLiga Lead with Crucial Win
Every match is a final from now on, and today wasn’t different. We solved it quickly and soundly, and that’s the important thing—three points and move on,” Torres told reporters after the match.
The win leaves Barcelona at the top of LaLiga with 63 points from 28 games, three ahead of Real Madrid (60 points) and seven clear of Atletico Madrid (56 points) with 10 matches remaining. Osasuna, meanwhile, sit in 14th place in the league standings.
The match was originally postponed on March 8 following the passing of Barcelona’s club doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia. Despite the delayed fixture, Barça showed no signs of rust and will look to continue their fine form as they push towards reclaiming the LaLiga title.
